There are not many upsides to a birthday in early January…even I’m not in a mood for a party. :unamused:  But it was my 21st (x2) today and Mrs Arnie being, as all on this board know, is a lady of impeccable taste and resourcefulness presented me with a large cardboard box containing:

1 set of MacGregor MT irons from approx 1970 - these are 2-SW, with #1 shafts and are essentially unhit, pretty much brand new after 40 years. Stiff, short and heavy is the best way of describing them. Mrs Arnie rather uncharitably said that we sounded a perfect match  These clubs have about as much mass in the muscle as any I have come across.

1 set of Spalding Bird on the Balls from the 80’s - 1-PW - I have always coveted a set of these having seen Welsh Dentist hit a series of beautiful long irons from this set on a great day out at Worplesdon

1 box of Titleist Professional 90’s - thought this would be a fun addition for some UK persimmon group days out

Quite how Mrs Arnie knew how to source such items is a mystery to me…a women’s intuition is truly an extraordinary thing  But I should apparently also pass my thanks onto Robbo for his help in this matter :sunglasses:

Cheers, Arnie

Mrs. Arnie is quite a catch!.. as are those MT’s!
Can’t wait to hear a review on both sets after you take them for a spin!

Happy birthday AA! Love that look of that mass behind the impact zone…those Muirfields you lent me and the 1967 VIPs are the most beautiful ‘right’ looking clubs you could ever imagine.

great score there… two classic sets to look forward to…

happy birthday!

Great stuff Arnie,

Those MTs are going to be the perfect set to tweak up to Lags specs, no doubt about it.

Belated Happy Birthday Mate!

Congrats Arnie! And what a way to start the year. Mrs Arnie has set the bar very high for your next birthday

Managed to get a dozen stiff shafts thrown in for $5. Should keep me going for a while.

wow…
what a find.
No doubt some real gems in there!
Are you sure you didn’t unearth those from “The Valley of the Kings?”

congrats

My god I just came home and found someone had broken in and stolen my best persimmons…

Neil, that’s amazing…you are having a good week  Got any lottery numbers for tomorrow!

What’s the story on the woodpile?

Cheers, Arnie

Nice Arnie,
I used to love my set of Spalding irons like those

NRG,
All I can say is…you have done well

Well Arnie,

peter160180 tipped us all off a while ago to a guy with loads of great stuff for sale (cheers Pete). Eventually I visited his Ebay and it goes without saying that I was like a kid in a sweetshop. 23 Persimmons, mainly Macgregors, couple of Toney Pennas and a Burke. Clubs like this rarely come on the market in the UK, so I just filled my boots. Some of them are Ladies clubs, but all of them are pretty not notch imo. Those Velocitized I flattened were from the first delivery, next project I think will be the Pennas.

Happy days!

Hey NRG,
You might need this… :stuck_out_tongue:

and $35 is just too funny, otflmao.

Its really interesting to see what puts you otflyao Dani, instead of just going for cheap innuendoes like some round here.
