one moreKeeps the Beta Rays away…
Dapper!
the only problem is I have to shoot 66 or better to pull it all off
Yeah you can’t be scrambling or hitting it out of the trees with that hat on… sometimes you got to set your stall out from the get go though… you could use it as motivation
Ok, these arrived today.
The Ralston SW is circa 40’s and is in ABSOLUTELY BRILLLIANT condition. It only looks a few years old. It has a sweet leather grip and it’s as heavy as hell, by far the heaviest club I have ever held and it is as stiff as a board. I paid US$10 for it and I’m absolutely in love with it. My best buy ever.
The TopFlite wood is also in brilliant condition. It’s laminated but it looks really cool (well to me anyway). With a medium flex shaft it also was a great bargan for US$9.
Finally the Jack Nicklaus MacGregors. These are supposedly from the mid 60’s to 1970…certainly no later than 1971. They are also in brilliant condition and have gold trimmed leather grips that feel fantastic. They are stiff as a board and have a very compact head, very similair to the Muirfield’s or MT’s from a few pages back. To be honest once I found out that they were department store line clubs I was going to re-selll them but now I’m not so sure. They just look and feel too good. I’m going to test them out on the course a few times before I make a final decision buton looks alone I.m thinking of keeping them. What’s it matter if the are department store line anyway?
I already have a set of 76 Wilson Staff’s so my collection of classic clubs is well underway. I’ve got a set o 82 Hogan Medallions coming from the US courtesy of SB which will become my full time gamers replacing the much maligned 09 Taylormade Burners (see the Taylormade man thread).
I’m of to waggle that Ralston SW again…man the wight of it is just unbelievable.
Anthgolf, the wedge looks great. It feels heavy just looking at the picture!!
It weighs a tonne. I was eventually going to get a Hogan Sure Out wedge coz I thoght this wedge would be meh (I only got it for shits & giggles) but it has turned out to be exactly what I’m looking for.
Gotta have some Macgregor woods right…
I got my IPT irons.
I could only hit them at the PGA Tour Superstore net because our range was closed down due to heavy rain yesterday.
The forgings feel better than the MacGregor 985’s that I have. 2-iron is really small and I’m not used to the round heads with the shorter irons. But, I like the clubs.
Clubs are very short. Shafts are 1/2" less than every new iron I compared it to. Plus, the lofts look very weak. I’m thinking they are about 3-4* weak. Can’t wait to play with them.

Tommy Armour Silverscots - 1,3,4
AUD$55 delivered
Cherish those gems…
The first decent vintage gear I have found on Aus ebay. $22 of the $55 I paid are courier costs to get them from Melbourne to Sydney as apparently the driver was too long to go via normal post. I’m sure someone will be able to tell me what year they are from?
The Hogans were $30, and I’d been stalking the Armours for a while and they were relsited with a buy it now option and he took $60- plus they have X100 shafts… good stuff
wow—awesome BOM–good stuff!~!!
Thanks B… yeah it’s kind of crazy the deals out there… can’t wait to heavy up those Hogans!
Very sweet purchases Anth and Bom, nice.
I’m curious as how those MacGregor feels in comparison to the Hogan’s.
My Hogan’s feel much better than the MacGregor 985’s. I like both, but I really love the Hogan IPT’s.

Remember these? cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi … K:MEWAX:IT
I made a poor purchase awhile back on some MT MacGregors with aluminum inserts. So I wasn’t sure if I should buy these because of my previous experience and also because they didn’t have what seems to be the desired 6 screw insert. So I bought them and put out the link to see if they were any good, and to my surprise Lag said these were awesome clubs. I’m done buying clubs. I really don’t have that much money for this new found hobby. All that said I would love a set of 6 screw M85s and then I’ll retire. I have a set of Hogan Bounce +1s (2-9 iron) that I would trade.
Here’s a pic of the woods, 50.00 + 18.00 for shipping.

these just came, again arrived way upright and strong
Once the 55 gets here I’ll have all 5 lofts in this model, 50, 53, 55, 57 & 60. I’m going to bend the 53 & 57 to 55 so I have different weight and bounce options for my middle wedge. The 50 is going to be in the bag most of the time rather than the Equalizer and the 60 always, love that 60…
