Very nice Cheese - stiff shafts, great condition, 2 to PW! I feel an powerful mystical force guiding me towards that ebay Buy It Now button. But whats this? An even stronger physical force pulling my hand away. Ah thats Mrs Arnie wanting to talk Christmas presents for the kids…I don’t suppose I could persuade her that they would make good lightsabers could I

My batting average is pretty terrible with the ebay ads I’ve posted. These aren’t quite so cheap, and not sure what I’ll get slung for postage:

Still can’t find any real external info about Kenneth Smith clubs.

I’ve been connecting with some old timers who are in the golf business who have a number of old sets. If you are looking for an older set, please let me know off line what year and model # you are looking for and what you are willing to pay. I would love to be able to make a bulk purchase and get some of these sets really cheap.

Thanks Papi - I’ll send you a 9 page email lol!

Some newer Wood Bros.

Will end up being a little pricey, but fun to look at’

Flop

Also ran across Jerry Barber’s set. Lynx irons look like late 70’s. Pretty woods.

Flop

Hi guys, do you know anything about these please? Slazenger S70 (Super Series 70) Dave Gardiner? I am thinking of bidding on them as they are relatively close to me but would like some additional info as far as the quality of this set/history.
I might end up getting them just for the woods anyway. Thanks for your help.

Hi Pip,

I took a look at these and couldn’t dig anything up apart from the fact that S70 is the postcode of the Dunlop Slazenger organisation in the UK wich is probably where the name comes from. I like the look though and I would guess closer inspection or a bid would be well worthwhile. Whilst not at the top end of things now Dunlop / Slazenger made some very nice irons in their time as Two has mentioned previously.

Good luck,

Arnie

Thanks a lot Arnie.

AA / anyone else - ever hear/ read anything about Macgregor CHieftan Reg 132 irons and woods from the 50s?

Hi Cheese - I will ask a friend who has a copy of the Kaplan catalogue of Mac clubs to have a look.

Cheers, Arnie

Cheese, they are in the Kaplan book under the year 1954, the drawing shows an insert that is a two color fibre face whereas the the pic I think you are looking at (Texas?) looks like a solid red insert, not sure if there was another model with a solid color insert. They look nice but quite pricey.

Cheers, Arnie

Thanks AA! Yes - TX craigslist - they are pricey – to pricey for me – but interesting.

A fresh one for your collection, Lag?

that’s the greatest wedge ever…
someone here should snatch it up… if not…
I’d buy it… but I’m quite happy with the one I have … and the ton of lead tape I have on the back of it…!

Love to have this one myself but I won’t bid if the existing bid on there already is from an ABS member so please let me know if that is the case.

Cheers, Arnie

I thought too somebody from here liked it too much.

I’m almost serious about starting module 1 again as a right hander. Almost everything available for right handers, nothing for the lefties.

sb944,

If you’re serious about lefty vintage gear shoot me an e mail… my old touring pal Vic Wilk is a lefty and has a bunch of great stuff… I know he has a set of left handed F4000 black face MacGregor irons he might part with…

He also has a set of 1960’s Bruce Devlin Spalding irons also that are collecting dust in his closet.

Shoot him an email at

vwlove2golf@gmail.com

and tell him I sent you…
He is the mastermind of the recently postponed TGRA Las Vegas Classic… so he is soooooooooooo all about this stuff!

and he has tons of lefty persimmons too…
