Great Equipment Alerts

Kind of pricey for the deals we like, but they look in pretty good shape… the 3i doesn’t even seem to have any bag chatter on it. The leather grips even seem salvageable/playable…
I’m not that up on Mac irons but they seem to be all the rage around here lately, and I love the weight distribution on these ones…

Don’t know much about this wood…just thought it was interesting because of the deeper face

actually just found some info about the above in the equipment forum (classic gear pricing and information)

Nice clean looking set of Hagens…shaft is regular however…but a steal for their condition (as far as the pics show)

Can anyone comment on whether or not this set of Spalding Hot Dot irons meets our classic forged blades criteria?

I hope this is the right place to post this and apologies if anyone has alerted on these before!

Well, I almost fell off my seat over here in the UK when I did a search on ebay and spotted this fairly new set of 16 listings for single/sets of Mac woods from a seller based in Nth Carolina. You never see anything like this in the UK:

shop.ebay.com/usedgolfballdeals/m.html

Here is a copy of the text that accompanies one of the listings and is typical of the others:

“MINT MacGregor 693 Tourney Tommy Armour Driver
I have a good friend here in Pinehurst who is a retired Sr. Tour Professional. A friend of his who spent a lifetime entrenched in Golf passed and the spouse asked him if he could help sift through all “The Stuff” Well in one of the storage rooms was some old boxes. Inside were hidden treasure for sure. The clubs we cannot say have never been played or hit but they have absolutely no signs of being played. They have not been refinished and they are not copies. These are the real deal…in sets and stored away since the 50’s unopened until recently. I was asked to list them on ebay to try and turn them into funds for the family. So there is nothing else to add here but the Pictures. If you are a collector then you know. So only serious inquires only.
Additional Statement of Validation
We have given you full disclosure of what our best research lends to what the clubs are…If you are a real collector then you know or have some really good idea of what they are. We have done our best to tell you. If you have any doubts about anything we are saying here then just don’t bid. We do know for a fact that some of them appear to have the right head-grip and shaft band to be originals but we are not going to say that they are…that is up to your discretion and we have shown you the images of the exact club you are bidding on. We are not even sure how long they have been stored…We just know that the boxes were just found and we are selling them here on ebay.
Fact – A well known Retired Sr. Tour Professional who is now 72 years old is in possession of the clubs.
Fact – He was a member of Macgregor staff from 1967 – 1986”

He’s still listing! Up to 21 lots now. M75s, 693s, 653s and more …

Great looking stuff, I just don’t understand all the caveats and disclaimers in the descriptions…these Mac collectors must be some real pain in the asses!

Some lovely looking woods in that lot.
Just wish these guy would ship to us UK based peeps. :imp:

This might be the most bizarre post I have seen on ebay. You don’t even get the 2 and 4 wood headcovers?
Somehow I am tempted to buy these to see if I can pull out a folded original copy of the Declaration of Independence from
inside the #5 wood cover?

What am I missing here?

cgi.ebay.com/Vtg-POWERBIT-Golf-W … 336475c6d4

clearly these are the greatest headcovers ever made…

Set of Hale Irwin Wilsons-- I have a set of exactly the same looking clubs in the Andy Bean model (shown in the sets in garage thread in the private area) and they are very similar to the Jerry Pate model I also have (these Irwin’s seem to have a slightly wider sole than the Pates)

I would rate these as a good set to play around with…easy to bend…good looking condition, no tricks, plain looking normal meaty blade…good price too

this one is still early days but maybe worth punching into your watch list to keep an eye on- Apex 4 shafts

cgi.ebay.com/Ben-Hogan-Apex-Grin … 0479067394

If you have a spare $30 these won’t hurt you either- …don’t know what shaft but the heads look pretty good even with a few scratches here and there

cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Northwester … 0656863230

one last NICE set …

cgi.ebay.com/Classic-USA-Forged- … 0521501593

Be ware of these Rams; I have a set of these then “newer” Rams and they are way light. I would ask the seller to give you the total weight of a 5 iron. If less than 435g; No good as no amount of lead tape or hosel weight can cover that kind of light club.

good info macs…didn’t really know that they were so light…just liked how shiny and good conditioned they were

He guys, just came across this at GolfWRX:
