Who is Sevam1-Mike Maves?

Bio,Lag, Lcd, or anyone

What do feel about Pete Cowans Spiral move where he works ground up thru body sections. Is this biomechanically correct. Have you seen it

Sounds great for peeling oranges.

Sixpack…the spiral staircase idea for coiling and uncoiling I think is valid, but Lag has a better way of drilling and supporting the pivot. One of Lag’s tenets is to get away from breaking the golf swing into pieces and examining those pieces in a static manner. We train certain aspects in a very dynamic manner and build upon what proceeded from impact back/through. Dynamic is the key word.

The spiral staircase idea has a tremendous amount of pieces and focuses the golfer on those sections in a mostly static manner. IMHO Pete Cowan makes his imagery more complex than it really needs to be and this sample of instruction is more of the same thing that has allowed very few to play golf powerfully and in control. Static tip-driven imagery over more effective drilling and dynamic change? No thanks…not for this guy.

That move is gonna lose the X load around P3 and never get anything close to a proper Y load. If it did the body lines are so bad it would stick the club in the ground. Flippy and disconnected in the hands and arms, more en vouge compenstations for light heads and hot balls.

‘Amateurs teach amateurs to BE amateurs’

-I forget Who…

The spiral staircase image is from Percy Boomer’s book “On Learning Golf” published in 1946. It is a very good one in my opinion. Helps a ton with golfers who are target line-bound or who suffer from the Straight Clubhead Path Illusion. Helps them learn to make a proper Pivot.

Without getting behind it though the only thing it’s good for is diggin’ ditches, but the world needs those too.

Sixpackkid,
People are aware of the kinetic link and the sequence from the ground up although they only know the buzz words and not fully understand how the kinetic link or human body functions…
Firstly to indenify someone’s kinetic link you need to measure their movement patterns… Video or eye can’t measure body segment speeds so you truely don’t know what speed each body segement is producing nor can you indentify in what sequence they are moving or how the muscles are firing and sequencing in each body segment…
Most people who claim they are teaching from the ground up are teaching superficial moves… Like this guy he is teaching a superficial move…
To create a kinetic link you need to train the body accordingly… it’s like ground forces I know by listening and reading to people giving their concepts on ground forces they aren’t truely teaching the correct ground forces… They again are teaching superficial ground forces built of their beliefs and not from measured research…
People’s concepts and beliefs system is they believe to generate a kinetic link you fire your hips first by turning your hips first… This is a superficial move…
By turing the hips first superficially doesn’t guarantee your producing a kinetic link as we are lead to believe…

There is a combination of events which creates hip rotation and ground forces… Hip rotation speed is created by a combination of events… The body learns how to this by learning how to move a certain way and create certain ground forces…

How can you say your teaching a kinetic link when you have never tested your training… How do you know your training is training the right movement patterns to produce a kinetic link with out testing… you don’t your guessing…
How do you know what someone’s kinetic link is with out testing? … you don’t your guessing…
How do you indentify if someone’s kinetic link is getting better without testing… you can’t…

People are only fooling themselves if they think they can…

Wow, that’s very good. Very true, too. But complicated and a lot of times I’m stupid. I think a golf swing is like pornography. The definition is different for everyone but I know one when I see one and when it’s good I have the same reaction to both.

Yeah! Somebody who thinks like me!

@lecoeurdevie: in regard to your dialogue on Mike Maves I can only say; I am so glad you don’t rule the world. My views could not be more antithetical to your own. Qualifications help assure minimum standards but if they are applied to exclude those who demonstrate the required skills and are further used as protectionism for the mediocre fearing a bright persona with uncommon manner, then it is misappropriated. Hooray for the Internet age and it’s ability to bypass the judgment of those who would like to deem what is useful. Mike’s success or failure will be the judgement in the free market place. Just MHO.

Tesla, welcome!

@lecoeurdevie hasn’t visited since February so your a bit late to the party on that one, but your passionate defence of Mike / Sevam1 is no less valid for it. I think Mike is held in pretty high esteem around these parts.

Hope you enjoy the site.

Cheers, Arnie

In the words of the late Richard Pryor, I ain’t dead yet %@$*#&'s! Been out of the country for a while but I think I’m still alive. At least my creditors are convinced… Been looking over the site for the first time in eons, some very interesting stuff here. This is still the best technical online resource for how to motate (tech term) a golf ball I’ve ever found, even if I am still a closet Swinger. Nice to see a lot of familiar faces, err avatars round here. Anyone for bocce ball? Holla!

Good to hear from you again LCDV and welcome back to domestic terra firma.

Speaking of avatars…anyone taken a real close look at Two’s avatar…he may be more cryptic than we think  RR

What’s goin’ on, arsehole? Is the WWW not really WW?

Hey, is there a module to annul premature Last Rites?

Good to see you back lcdv.

Way ahead of you RR, I have wondered that myself … but now I am wondering what the cryptic message behind your avatar is…

Happy and healthy New Year to one and all even good old Mike Maves

Well…since you’re in his neighborhood…have a chip off. You win and he reveals!

As for my avatar…“BH” for me stands for Been Hoping  RR

The best Richard Pryor line for me was in See no Evil, Hear no Evil.

Welcome back…
