Knudson talked about every player having a unique alignment. I really believe this to be true, especially seeing so many great strikers when I was on tour confirming this.
Some mod 6 feel at the range today. Improving, flattening a little, club face more open at p3. Loving the process
It’s such a great feeling when you start working the shaft at right angles to the spine, then hit hard with a level shoulder rotation!
The ball compression is really noticeable…
Good work!
I recently revisited this youtube video @lagpressure posted about a year ago.
What struck me is how much more relevant the lessons in the videos John’s posted are the further you progress in the ABS system.
Nothing new in this particular video jumped out at me, but a couple of things hit home a little clearer.
At 8:50 John talks about timing, or rather taking timing out of the swing. My understanding of this, and being able to feel it is now just wants me to do it more.
At 10:30, the cupped left wrist. If there’s one thing I think about when I play, it’s this. The feeling of the left wrist remaining cupped, along with an aggressive flat pivot through and beyond impact, produces the most crisp flush shots I’ve ever hit.
I suggest watching these youtube videos from time to time as you progress through the modules. There’s gold in all of them, and the gold is shinier as you dive deeper in to ABS
I recently purchased a set of 1952 MacGreger Tommy Armour Silver Scott irons from @eagle
What a pleasure to hit these clubs. Amazing feel off the club face, way more solid than I expected them to be. And beautiful feel!!!
I’m yet to play a round with them, but have had a few fun range sessions with them.
They’re 5 degrees flat, slightly shorter than my regular clubs and D2 swing weight.
This is 6 iron at the range
GIVE THE GUY BEHIND YOU THE FINGER
When I hit my cleanest, crispest, most flush shots I feel like I can give the bird to someone behind me at P4
This helps me achieve a correct post impact pivot. My right arm is feeling slightly bent, hands moving low towards left pocket and club face feeling open.
Combined with an aggressive pivot beyond impact to PV5, this will produce flush crisp penetrating shots.
It’s been 2 years since I began my ABS journey.
I did a lot of drilling with the impact bag early on (I should really be doing more).
I got to the range as much as a busy work and family life would allow.
Winters where I live (Victoria on Vancouver Island, Canada) aren’t exactly the best for golf, so not too much golf related activities happening during those months.
So it’s taken me 2 years to get to the point where I feel good about my ball striking, confident about my game.
I say this because, despite already being a good player, making changes while maintaining a busy normal life is hard and takes patience and time. Drilling is the best way to do it, by far! Most of my range work is drills.
Two years ago I was at a loss with how much my game had deteriorated over the years. I’d just finished a local 2 day tournament well back and out of the prizes. My ball striking sucked.
That same tournament this year I finished 5th. Yesterday I finished 2nd in another local 2 day event. My ball striking was fantastic. Despite being 2 years older and greyer (I’m 58 now), I was able to hit my 6 and 7 irons in there as close as the young guys were hitting there wedges.
I’m really grateful to John @lagpressure and ABS for putting the enjoyment back into golf for me. I love the process of getting better, and the joy of a well stuck shot. I love golf again!
Thank you ABS
Hell yeah Paul !!! Right there with you brother !! A big thanks to John and Bradley for putting out a simple, ACTIONABLE process to create something special ! Cheers

Paul,
Looks really good and appreciate your posts!
Maybe your new Avatar?
Looks great…
I really believe that the lightweight gear that my fellow pros started using caused a slow deterioration to what were formerly excellent golf swings. The swings became much more “armsy” and not as pivot driven. So while some would say they picked up speed, they would lose ball control and I could see this with the right elbow getting overly active through the strike. Even if you are using a swinger’s release, the player can’t feel the CF of a heavier head through the strike.
So while it takes some time to get the strength back, it’s critical to do so… especially as we get older.
Gold Bars here…
Good idea, time for a refresh
Try this drill to help keep pressure on the shaft and maintain shaft flex.
With your right hand fingers off the club (for right hand players) and just the palm on the grip, do practice swings or even hit balls with a half swing. Keep the fingers off the club, but maintain pressure against the grip with the palm of your hand.
This will help train you to hold shaft flex though and beyond impact, the key to great ball striking.
If you can successfully do this drill, you will understand why Ben Hogan wished he had 3 right hands.
Excellent!
Thanks Paul for posting…
Veteran ABSers are coming out of the fog and winning tournaments.
Jesse, Louis this month… you’re next!
Great to see Louis and Jesse win!
I only play a couple of local tournaments each year, but they are against the top local pro’s & amateurs. I finished 5th & 2nd respectively this year. My ball striking has improved a lot of late as the changes I’ve made over the last couple of years feel more natural.
Still a lot more to work on and improve…better shoulder turn, better post impact pivot, less right arm throw, etc, etc.
Really enjoying the process.
Gave these old boys a bit of a scrub this weekend. Still quite scuffed up, but the scuffs are shiny now
Some of the best feeling irons I’ve ever hit!

No doubt one of the great iron blades ever made. Absolutely timeless. Everything is right on these.
