Thanks @72holeouts & @NRG - I’ve found that I tend to engage my shoulders (tighten) at address and lift quite a bit - my hands get pretty high and I drop the club, instead of pushing it out on transition (out is down move). The feel and intention of a strong and level pivot certainly allow a late and hard release, when your you’re delivering from the correct position. (For me, feeling as open/rotated as possible with the forearms, yet relaxed shoulders before “hit”; or as relaxed as I can be at speed) ignites the body/torso to take over like an aggressive revolving door. Looking forward to progressing with you all!
I like the relaxed intention. I dont experience that…
Im very tight…inner pressures pulling me into the void. The more in, the more compressed i feel at address the more i can spring off that in the backswing…fling it.
Then i totally feel out is down, and a little around…but i prefer to reroute the club in transition most days like finau. Some days i dont reroute, but hit it fine. Usually when my back is looser.
I play modern clubs though, flattened with zero offset and lead tape. Modern driver swing weighted at E2. 3W @ D9. Vokey wedges…2 flat.
I like the sound of your setup - maybe you’ve posted prior, but curious how you went about zero offset irons? I emailed Titleist and can’t get the JT irons… I’m thinking about the P7TW’s - the RF cobras scare me a bit, lol.
He’s coming out with a blade later this year. You’ll have to lead tape it,flatten, etc. But i hit them equal to any modern clubs. D-23s vs CR-16 (blades).
Smushed some Spalding Dyna Flights yesterday (not ABSd)…and I was feeling office space vibes. I’ve been at the range a lot the last week, felt a bit like movie I guess.
Hope you enjoy.
That must have been really cool to be involved in that testing, nice one.
I could never get the hang of Ping Eyes at all, especially the long irons, they just looked so alien to my eye. I had a couple of good player buddies who used to rip the 1 iron so I got myself one at one point, but I would just fat it all day long. I always used blades with lots of lead tape, not out of any recommendation, I just instinctively liked to feel where the clubhead was through my hands.
My college team were Ping sponsored so our coach was always trying to get them into my bag. I put the Zing 2s in for a week, G Loomis shafts - in for a penny, in for a pound! I actually played great that week too, missed the playoff by a shot, but took them out the next week, much to my coach’s disgust! I just couldn’t feel the ball off them at all, like the strike wasn’t anything to do with me, the ball was just gone before I expected it to be, if that makes sense. I had another go then later with Nickel ISIs with steel shafts, and they were the most solid feeling Pings I’ve ever hit, I’d probably have kept going with them in a pinch. Very solid clubs with a true strike feel off them, one that I could relate to blade-wise. Nice bit of weight to them too. I think that was around the era when Ping started going towards blade-looking clubs and away from the crazy looking things they’d been.
I tried to play that video but it just kept saying ‘PC Load Letter’… wtf does that mean?
Really feels good when you nut one of those
Thanks for posting your progress!
Really just a normalish swinger, not an ABS hitter. Hope you don’t kick me out on those grounds!
I risked my camera’s life for this footage, so enjoy.
Some excellent acceleration through the ball in that swing!
If you haven’t already, maybe get your irons bent flatter. I bent mine 4 degrees flat and it has helped a lot with with what ABS is trying to teach.
Nice, very nice. You could set your watch with always being in motion like you are, especially after your last look out downfield.
That thing’s lucky I’m not armed.
Anyways, what would you do if you had a million dollars?
Couldn’t agree more. Really enjoy K2s swing and routine. Just playing persimmon/blades with no ABS and i think he swings better than most guys i play with who are scratch. Real classic stuff.
Thanks All, really appreciate the comments. I don’t think about those pre shot motions too much, just what I naturally do to feel my way into the swing.
I was taught in HS to come up with a pre shot routine, but I enjoy just letting that develop naturally over constructing it intentionally (maybe that’s lazy talking ).
A nice day in south west Missouri
I would do nothing
How about you?
