nice pipp, real nice…

Thanks Anthgolf.

Two very nice sets to own Pip - Dynas (71ish buttonbacks I think) look in great shape!

Let us know how you get on with them.

Cheers, Arnie

Yes Arnie, the Dynas are the 71 button back model and the Haigens were made in Scotland in 71-72. Can’t wait to go and play today…

Make sure you pop back on here Pipp and give us a review on them…

wow—are those Dynas refinished, or are they in THAT good a shape?

awesome find!

Apparently they have just been cleaned. It seems that the guy that owned them hit a few shots and never liked them… :unamused:

Anthgolf, those irons are great!I used them today and I am happy with how I hit the ball. I was quite unsure about the stiff shafts but I found out that I hit these longer than my Hagens with Reg shafts and only one less club than my Rac OS2 that had ultra-lite reg shafts. Good hits feel like heaven. Mishits are felt, no doubt about that but still go pretty far and I expected mishits to happen today anyway, being the very first time I used them. Also they look spectacular at set up.

In the bag! :exclamation:

More of my Ansel Adams photography I know, this camera and I are having a fight but this is an upside down ‘Y’ 4 screw Hogan 3 wood I saw at the golf shop I go to to get my sticks bent. Shaft is an old Dynamic S/X, D3 at 42". Price: ONE DOLLAH. There was the driver and 5 wood too but I ran out of quarters. Sits dead square.

My 1976 Wilson Staff’s purchased not long ago. Stiff shafts and matching serial numbers. The lofts were strengthened a little by the previous owner but I have compared them to Lag’s specs and they are only 1 degree stonger than his (47deg PW) so I’m not touching them.

I like these because when I’m ‘on’ I can hit them well…plus they are from the year I was born. At some point I will get them restored and pass them down to my son (who is only 3 at the moment) who is a real golf fanatic and can hit the ball better than me.

I’m only new to this whole vintage club things but I just purchased these…I’ll get some of my own photos up when I receive them. I purchased them because of their condition and the price. MacGregor stiff shaft with original leather grips (I believe these grips have gold trim).

I’d be interested in any info anyone has on these such as approx age etc. I’m guessing the mid to late 80’s. I also think that they may have been paint filled and if so I would love to know what the original colour scheme was so that I can restore them.

As I said I’m new to collecting but already have a substantial wish list:

IRON SETS
Wilson Staff Dyna Power (any model but I do like the Turfrider)
MacGregor MT1 (black face) or one of the Colokrom models

VARIOUS
Persimmon Driver and 4 Wood (any of the classics or anything that just has a nice look about it)
Tourney Jack Nicklaus R271 PW (for the Jack Nickluas set I just purchased)
Ben Hogan Sure Out SW

I’m sure my wife is going to love this new hobby of mine, NOT! I guess I could sell my modern set to pay for all of these…and probably still have change left over. Before I totally get rid of my modern gear though I want to be able to hit blades reasonably consistently first, although I must say even if I have a day full of mishits I still find that I’m enjoying myself, probably because the ones I do hit well feel soooo good.

There is other value in these other than monetary…I mean even if the MacGregors I just purchased are from the late 80’s they are now 20+ years old and will be 40+ years old by the time my eldest is 20. What a cool family heirloom.

Just picked these up last week- hopefully the photos are still available to view if you scroll down…
Nice winter refinishing project with my all time favourite coloured inserts… gotta love it!
… and for less than 30 bucks! ridiculous…

Anth,
Great Staff’s. I think that was the model Hale Irwing used when he won the Open in the playoff against Donald. I’m not 100 percent on that, but I’m pretty sure. I’m gonna check my book to see if those Mac irons are in there, will PM you if I get a result. I really like the idea you have of passing the clubs on to your son some day. That is fantastic!!

A—both sets look great, way to go!

Bom—Nice pick up, buddy—I cant believe I never saw them!! awesome inserts…
I have a new PB in the persimmon thread you will like

good work boys!

Well done Anthgolf, you got a Mc Gregor set finally! Very nice irons.

Bom - Very good purchase.

Ritchie - I really like the look of those Hogan from the soles.

Thanks Pipp, now I just need to find out a bit of history on the Jack Nicklaus MacGregor irons.

I also picked up this Beckley Ralston Trapshooter wedge and Spalding Top Flite 4 wood for us$19. Any info on either of these would be very much appreciated.
