Great Equipment Alerts

To be honest, even just a set of irons won’t often be under $70 for delivery, and a driver adds more cost due to length. It’s the tax we pay for being overseas to all these great clubs. However, convert using current Au$, add the big shipping costs, and end up around $100-$150 to your door for a full set of irons and woods. Now walk into drummond golf and see what that gets you. Probably 1 of the irons of a good set if you are lucky.

Now my purchase was advertised US and Canada shipping only, but when I pointed out someone had previously shipped a full set using USPS, they agreed to do that if I won. May not always work, but if you make the option easy for them, they might come around.

X100 are extra stiff shafts. Lag and co like these shafts, but I’m not sure if all ABSers will end up being able to hit extra stiff, might want to ask Lag that.

Hey SB.

I paid US$54 in postage from US to OZ for a set of 76 Wilson Staff blades 3-PW last month. I guess I got lucky with that particular seller as all the others seem to have US$75+ postage costs. There are a couple of sets I’m interested in now but each which will end up costing me AUD$300 delivered. I take your point about Drummond Golf but it’s $300 I don’t have right now.

I’ve given up emailing US only ebay sellers because they don’t budge from their no international shipping policies. I’ve tried to convince a few of them but with no luck. The one guy I did convice wanted US$200 for postage. I guess I’m going to have to plan a trip to the States soon (2004 was the last time I was there) so that I can stock up on a whole heap of vintage gear…$300 should buy me 4 or 5 sets easy.

This is my second set of Wilson Staffs as a result of alerts from Twomasters…I’m going to have to send a commission check soon. Thanks for the heads-up Two!

I don’t see these too often on ebay…

Thanks bentshaft –

Question, is it possible to put new shafts in these irons? I ask because I may want to use them as my gamer someday and the shafts are too short, but I keep hearing something about these irons attaching the heads with a pin since the epoxy back then didn’t work very well.

More often than a pin is just a ball bearing fired in to pinch it a little. Not a big deal at all and not neccasary to replace with modern epoxies. Very rare to find a pin in Top Brand Irons

It can be a slight pain in the ass , but YES you can re shaft these babies! The Hogans were all pinned (my dynas were not) so a little heat and muscle may be required, but it is a definite YES, it can be done…
Im sure Arnie and a few other guys will have something to add here as well…I’m still a bit new to all this stuff!

My Hogans have a reg flex, but a slightly different step pattern than usual…they are for sure “R” but the kick point makes them feel stiff…im not gonna touch them…they also lay a bit flatter than my other “older” clubs…I have a lower, more boring type ball flight with these than any other club I own…awesome stuff!..

IronFinder.com has a heap of older blade sets, not many left handed though, and probably higher prices than you might sometimes find on ebay.

Here is the one thing that caught my eye for a lefty:
Top-Flite Tournament Model (triangle) Left only 1950 Synchro-dyned on toe; marble ferrules; True Temper Dynamic (black band) shafts; Master grips; Serial #422830 LEFT HANDED
Set 2-9 iron
Men’s Left Hand
Stiff Steel
$99.95

Really old spalding set, stiff shaft, reaonsable price. Should I be interested do you think?
