Great Ball Strikers of all time - links to footage and pics

Norman- front view

I found a great photo of Hogan hitting out of a fairway bunker from a front and rear view and it gives us a great look at his P4 position and into P5… reminded me a little of the Peter Senior fairway bunker shot on the module 2 video…albeit a still shot

Some nice footage of Tony Lema and his beautifully structured golf swing that took him to the 1964 British Open title before he was tragically killed in a plane crash

Even into his 50’s, Miller still had a swing to behold

His impact position and thrust through impact were sensational as the pictures show long after his true golfing career had finished- his swing never left him

front on view of the Miller swing- who despite all his putting woes still managed to win a tour event at almost age 47 at the Pebble beach pro Am in 1994 - the last of his 25 PGA victories

It’s been said that Miller in his prime hit it better than anyone…

Regardless of what many might feel are some unorthodox positions… the golf swing is not based upon positions. Miller gets it done. Three great things here…

He cuts it left and holds wrist cock with a driver fantastically. This is hitting 101 mastery. Holding shaft flex shows that his hands are firing right on cue as they should…

The great spine tilt assures he is coming nicely down the 4:30 line.

Perfect path, perfect pressure, and that’s why he’s Johnny!

Horton Smith

I have always loved this photo Lag since I have started the program- Horton Smith------- packed forearms to body, hands leading, axis tilt, feet grounded and holding shaft flex- looks model like stuff

Smith won the first Masters in 1934 and won it again in 1936…He won 32 times on the PGA Tour and is in the World Golf Hall of Fame, so he certainly had game. Would like to find some more swing pics of his

Nice flat entry here from the two time major champ…

I know Jim Furyk is still young in his career- but the guy is a genius. try and find someone else besides Tiger in the past 10 years who is pretty much in the thick of the tournament battle week in and week in like Furyk is… There isn’t anyone who can touch his consistency
He has always been poked fun at for his swing- but he must be doing a lot of good things in that swing to be the consistent ballstriker and player and money making machine that he is.

Here’s a slo mo - the camera is not really in a good position to where he is aligned to- but you can see the action good enough

For those who spend a lot of time looking at swing sequences, you won’t see too many if anyone who has held off clubface release as long as Furyk does.
This is not just great intentions, for Jim, he lives this geometry. This is classic orbit pull stuff that puts incredible feel in the hands as he is counter acting CF, cutting it left, and resiting the roll over that the clubface is so desperately seeking. I would love to be where Furyk is here. He eliminates a huge timing element of the golf swing by incorporating this into his technique. Top stuff indeed.

Younger Moe Norman

Nice one HQ- have never really seen much younger videos of Moe

Younger Moe Norman Front View

Moe’s right leg was like a post… and stance width like The Great Pyramids of Egypt.

I could watch his swing all day long. Organic, intuitive, yet with machine-like repeatability. Great pivot move with almost everything striven for in ABS but in a ‘swing’ or horizontal hinge action. Very tempting, actually…

Don’t have much context on this video, but this is old school golf being played on a UK course - from the late 50s or early 60s. Peter Alliss, Christy O’Connor, Max Faulkner and Brian Huggett are the players. Persimmon, mediocre putting and no tees…

Thats Royal North Devon, the oldest course in England, dating from 1864. Amazing contrast to modern architecture - no bulldozers so just modelled round what was and in this case what wasn’t already there! Sheep grazing all over the place. A lot of people hate the place, just doesn’t conform to what they think a golf course should be. Same thing happens with a lot of first time visitors to St Andrews. Sam Snead passing St.Andrews in a train on the first and only time he played there when he won the Open exclaimed “Gee,aint that an old, abandoned golf course over there!?”

I havn’t played either but know plenty happy to line up in either camp - for and against!
