The Nautilus, the Golf Swing, Golden Ratio, Fibonacci seque

And then this leads into Bom’s post @ 9:22am on Dec 21…

It’s really good seeing all your creative explorations into this stuff. Until recently I was unable to experience the accelerating pressures beyond impact while sustaining left hand wrist cock and resisting the hands and arms flying further away from the rotation axis. Unqualified to post in the “Nautilus…” topic about post impact, I was hoping like crazy that more accomplished golfers would do so and soon. It’s great to see folks are moving ahead, exposing more about the practical realm and the heart of the effective swing’s great visual and tactile appeal.

Best to you all,

I’m making some headway on those invisible spirals, 1T. This is an interesting link with some cool videos at the bottom. I followed my nose off to the videos at the side of RR’s Wave post earlier. Fascinating stuff all round…
Cheers,

Thank you Bom for getting the stuff over here. Top notch effort. I started to try but didn’t get very far when I noticed that you already moved it all.

Now to carry on…here’s how I see the wrist angle post impact…and is so conveniently captured within a sine…it must be a sign

And just to prove that I wasn’t hallucinating…well, maybe I was…here’s the “B” from the logo.

 RR

That makes perfect sense. I’m pretty sure that is the basic structure that a good golf swing works in, not much else to say about that! Great stuff…
I’ll get to some more on it in a bit…
BOM

… I hit post on this and then walked away… it was blocked by your follow up…

RR,
I went against my better judgement by getting involved in Rocky VII down below, it’s like a sanctuary up here- DL3 and Alex Hay say it all, really. I’m sure there’ll be a Rocky VIII at some point…

Anyway, as I was saying earlier, I’ve been working with warped circles and all that stuff. I’ve been seeing the same thing that you point out, but through the infinity shape. I fitted one onto the end of your diagram to show how it falls in line with the wave, but also comes back around which I like as it seem a more complete package of movement- I’ll add one of my ‘works’ to see if you can get your head around it… there’s lots going on in there- I’m sure you’ll get a kick out of it. I’ve been trying to describe the energy in the swing because I wonder about the physical. I was talking a while ago about how when you move rope back and forth or up and down, it takes the shape of the energy put into it, very much like a wave. It’s an intent, or an idea. I think understanding the journey of the energy is big because that can then be your focus, and not ‘movements’ as such. It’s a long conversation…
That video you showed earlier with the circle and the sine wave really struck a chord with me because the infinity is also another form of a circle, just twisted and warped. It also fits in with the helical stuff from the Hogan DNA thing I did a while back. If you lay that one on it’s side, you can see the wave action too. So many connections…

Wow Bom thats really cool; I now understand your take on what is “you just do it”; kind of like directing energy. Do you think the body action need more than one vectors; like lower vs upper body???

Ok Ratter, you’ve got your B.

Now give me a H and we are well on our way.

Just for you NRG…

I was thinking…if the world is watching this thread…they must think we are all nuts. Or at least me!

I like your drawing Bom…will get back to it later. I’m watching the grandkid today and we are fighting for time on the computer…unfortunately Poptropica and Addicting Games seems to be winning!

Rat,

Nuts? I don’t think so.

Great work, so now we are just waiting on your PringleMan analysis, don’t think we have forgotten about him.

Macs,
That image is in 3d really, but I don’t have the tech to do that. I guess I believe in people’s ability to move first and foremost, and when I see a lot of the conscious body manipulation stuff, I just wonder about it. There are some things to learn, no doubt, and they are unique to the game- basically hinging, and angle of approach. After that I think people have more in the tank than they realize. The problem is that the bigger you think your inability or failing is, the bigger you think the fix needs to be. And that’s the stuff that’s really hard to break through because it’s got nothing to do with golf. The best golfers I know are always ready to play well, they don’t need a complicated or even good reason- and that goes from tour player all the way down to beginner. The underachievers are always ready to play badly, and they don’t need a complicated or even good reason for that- and again, that goes all the way from the top to the bottom. And I’m intrigued by that and it motivates me to understand the game on a more instinctive level, and I’m getting there with it.

Again nice picture Bom…I don’t know how to interpret the red smiley face and the larger black neutral face- can you shed some light on that. At first I was thinking about a backmove axis for the red face and forward axis for the black face. Was I close?

I like the yellow arrow…it reminds me of a resultant force vector between the green arrow and the black path.

Was that a paint program…whatever it is…it is way better than mine…

I agree with your comments to Macs too. I seen so many people that just can’t come to grips that motion is not that complicated…like you said a few things to work out and sense the feel of where things are in space…but after that the sky’s the limit really. Yet those same people if you ask them to slay Goliath with a sling and rock would need little to no motivation or instruction. I think the prime culprit is ball boundness in their absense of sensory awareness and intentions.

NRG: Pringle Dude will have to wait a spell…don’t want to get to off the charts with this stuff…but glad you liked what kind of nonsense trickles through a rats brain. RR

I look forward to your future posts regarding invisible spirals Bom.

OK, maybe we need to morph ouselves into Richard Feynmans or Marilyn vos Savants to understand or appreciate this stuff, but even if we aren’t all geniuses, and I know for a fact am not because I am racing like hell trying to keep up while losing ground, it sure is a hoot seeing and thinking about golf and a lot of other stuff that’s out of the conventional corporate box. We sometimes learn something new whether we like it or not when someone dares to move our imaginary cheese once in a while, even if it disturbs us momentarily, eh? Good on ya crazy folks. :smiling_imp: :ugeek: :bulb:

Happy New Year to All.

It’s been a few weeks since I checked into this thread. Wow has this thing ridden off the rails! You Golfing Machine guys can’t get that thing out of your head … I’m going to have to break down and finally read the damn thing!

It’s funny though … when watching the circle/sine wave animation, I was imagining that the circle was in fact a sphere. The line being drawn (in my own perception) looked as if it were inscribing a spiral line on the inside of a hollow tube. I don’t even care if I understand the math … just that simple mental action of imagining the sine wave in a three dimensional form conjures up the aesthetic element. This is very satisfying.

Speaking once again to the power of the golden spiral, take a look at the satellite photo of the recent Christmas storm that ravaged the East coast.

I believe we, as products and participants of nature, have the ability to access this powerful line of force.

From another with intuition about Nature’s forces, Sam Snead: “It’s just nice rhythm; all goes together. If you can get it all together, brother, you can play some golf.”

Happy New Year to you too goldengolf.

Welome to the world of avatars Teebox…nice one!

Now all we have to do is get Bom off his lazy butt and do the same  RR

You too eagle!

Thanks RR. It may be temporary; who knows?
