Interesting concept to address many of the issues we all have with golf but from a complete opposite direction (high tech). Who will be watching? Might this be the future of the game for general public?
Which issues does it address that we have with golf? I saw a very short highlight clip and that’s about it for me. Didn’t catch my interest, so I won’t be watching. But I also don’t watch too much golf anymore except for some weekends of the majors.
From my perspective this address issues of limited access to course, courses having to continue expanding taking more real estate and resources. This also speeds up the game potentially. I think it also gives the techie an outlet to prevent them from running the classic game we all enjoy so much. Some of the hole designs are wonky but there are a few that test strategic thinking.
True, indoor golf can help with water and land use. I don’t enjoy it too much though. We’ll see if it catches on.
I haven’t watched any of it, but I generally only watch the majors or more prominent tournaments anyway.
A friend of mine, who is a good player (1 or 2 h/cap), said he watched about 10 minutes and turned it off, lol. He did say it was a cool set up and would love to try it with some mates & a few beers, but watching it was a no for him.
If this was to become a thing, how long is a round of golf? How many groups can play in a day? Real golf has tee times about 8 or 9 minutes apart, how does simulator golf work?
I’ll be saving my golf watching time for The Players Championship in March, but in the meantime there are plenty of @lagpressure & @twomasters videos to watch instead
