I’d say my own grip has become more firm with more time spent on ABS.
I think when I started golfing I bought into all the ‘hold a bird’ talk because my hands did a lot of bad things. But I think it’s superior now to have a firm grip as Sam suggests… once you have educated hands.
Maybe this is a difference between swinging and hitting? I don’t know really, but firm is better to me now, but ask me over a year ago and I couldn’t hit a ball with a firm grip.
