Scottie Scheffler Golf Swing

No wonder Scottie Scheffler owns the best ball striking stats on tour right now.

His backswing and downswing is the most similar to Jack Nicklaus out of anyone else right now. Nicklaus was a lot more controlled with his footwork though.

See world class post-impact-pivot-thrust by Scottie Schleffler.

Note how FAST his left shoulder is post impact - staying ahead of the club - his left shoulder is much faster than all his fellow PGA Tour players. Notice that you will never hear normal golf commentators mentioning either of these ABS fundamentals!

Scottie has always had very ABS-like swing, with flat shoulder rotation and huge post impact pivot thrust. Video short of him in 2013 US Junior Amateur (12 years ago, that would make him 17 yrs old):

John Erickson, you should do a YouTube video showing how ABS principles are used by the world’s #1 player.

From watching “conventional” television and YouTube swing commentary on Scottie’s swing, I am astounded how many analysis’s of Scottie’s swing actually END at impact…. many analysis’s don’t even pay attention to anything post-impact at all!

Yet, from my amateur ABS eye, when I watch swings of Scheffler in slow motion, his post impact left shoulder is clearly moving SO FAST post impact in slow motion, it looks like most people’s regular speed (i.e. non-slo-mo!) swings post-impact.

I think Lagpressure would do the golf world a service, to publish an ABS video pointing out the ABS principles in Scottie’s swing, that are basically absent from almost everyone else’s conventional commentary. Highlighting Scottie’s ABS execution also would explain and highlight why Scottie’s follow through looks so distinctive. Just like Hogan who had the same fast left shoulder and had a distinctive follow through different than all his peers …. if (thx to ABS) you know what to look for, Scottie’s body is well ahead of the club even at the end of many of his swings. Which produces his highly distinctive follow through’s, that you see on the Facebook highlight reel above. No one else that I have seen on Tour, does this post-impact-pivot-thrust and fast-left-shoulder, to the extent that Scottie does.

John Erickson, doing such a video would go a long way to publicize to the world, why Scottie’s ball striking is so superior - and by extension, help the world to understand what you Erickson and Brad Hughes have been talking about for over a decade in ABS. It would be a great opportunity and gift to everyone in golf.

John Erickson, we’d love to see you do a ABS YouTube video showing how ABS principles are used by Scottie Scheffler, the world’s #1 player.

I agree John, it would make a great video for youtube and give some food for thought to people not aware of ABS. Do it J.E. :+1: @lagpressure

For some reason.. it’s hard to find a good DTL view of him hitting an iron. I don’t want to analyze the driver swing. Most of what I have seen on YT has been watermarked etc.

I’ll keep looking.

i guess he has an ‘underhand’ feeling after each iron shot. I suppose he’s able to control the spin precisely

I heard on some podcast can’t remember that he keeps it simple. Don’t let the toe pass the heel or as John would say heel heavy divot or lead with the heel.

Over on this thread where posts of Scottie Scheffler’s swing have also been shared and discussed regarding “is he Hogan-like”, Lagpressure kindly weighed in with his short net assessment stating that Scottie Scheffler clearly applies some excellent ABS principles, here’s that Lagpressure post: Hoganlike swings - #8 by lagpressure
