Hoping for some thoughts here. I understand there’s a preference towards old vintage 50s and 60s, but I would prefer something that does provide a little forgiveness so is there a more recent 80s,90s,early 2000s Hogan or Wilson that would do the trick? Maybe even a slight cavity back with minimal offset? Also, if so, can I grab a set with stiffer shafts and simply bend flat with no other effort?
You want to be able to feel everything especially the sharp leading edge. Cavity backs will numb your feel. The newer stuff is also lighter and in some cases can’t take the bending required. Plenty of really cheap proper gear available. Take the dive and you will enjoy.
