A lot of things get cleared up when hitting vs swinging gets cleared up.

I have always felt that I begin my takeaway with a strong push into the ground to stabilize the lower half- THEN I feel the right side of the core initiate the move away.

The ground allows me to do this.

Then I don’t overturn the hips or shoulders too early as a result of this feeling. It gets me wide and then I can turn when the hands get to about waist high.

The width becomes the load. The load becomes the hit. Then just keep going to the finish.

Good thoughts TM on the down pressure beginning and how that positively affects what’s about to load. I like the delay piece a lot by using ground and its relationship to width.

I pressure down off the ball too but, using Homa as an example, for me I sense it more as a leveling out both upper and lower (knees and shoulders both equidistant to ground) forming a solid balanced base from which to move whichever way one wants.
