Hi,I’m in my mid thirties and grew up playing frying pans. I’ve been playing a Todd Demsey persimmon and love it. I’m still working on my form. I’m noticing more and more emphasis on low spin balls in the urethane category. What’s a proper ball for persimmon? I’ve been playing prov1 but my stash is running thin and I’m intent on playing my persimmon forever. What should I start stocking up on and should I avoid anything? I have pretty good speed for only playing a persimmon for one full season and I’ve seen a lot of mixed answers in my searches.
Nice, I’ve also been playing a Todd Demsey persimmon. I think the ProV1 is a good ball for persimmon woods, but I’m trying to quit Titleist because I think they are bad for golf (very hostile when it comes to rollback as I understand). I’ve been playing the Wilson Staff (essentially their Pro V1 equivalent) which I like. I also like the Maxfli Tour.
Unfortunately nowadays the softer balls (lower compression) don’t spin as much, and I think just don’t fly as well for higher speed players in my opinion.
I have a sleeve of balatas from the 80s.
Thanks for your reply. Another Wilson ball I’ve been liking is the triad. It’s a little softer and spins a lot.
Pretty slim pickings out there tbh.
Have heard some folks like the Wilson Duo just for the softness, but yeah you’re always making trade offs.
Callaway Supersoft isnt too bad. Used it yesterday in NY winter and it kept up with prov off tee but flew much higher initially. No problem carving in for draws and fades and feels like a butterball.
Don’t try -ProV1 left dash lol
