Launch of the Persimmon Golf Society

Hi,

I just wanted to let everyone know of a new society that just getting off the ground in the UK the Persimmon Golf Society. Its being started out of the UK and initially promoted/organised through facebook http://www.facebook.com/search/?q=Christian+Mcmillan&init=quick#/group.php?gid=189830219415&ref=mf but who knows where it might spread to.

The facebook description is as follows:

The group is hosted for those who enjoy all aspects of persimmon golf:

• Playing golf with persimmon or other wood type golf clubs (particularly 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s)
• Potentially meeting and forming a persimmon golf society
• Playing golf with irons from the past (80’s and before)
• Chatting about golf equipment before the advent of Callaway’s Big Bertha driver
• Discussing the beauty of persimmon/wood golf craftsmanship
• Sharing tips on antique club repair (40’-80’s)
• Sharing tips/info on buying and selling used or new persimmon or iron golf clubs

Sounds like something that might go down well here on ABS. So whether or not your in the UK if you currently enjoy persimmon and blades, would like to give it a try or just want to follow the discussions it would be great if you could give it a boost by signing up.
