Thank you! It is coming together now. I can do the layoff, I can get the heel heavy divot and I can do the post impact level rotation…just need to merge it all together. With the layoff, however, it is going to be easy. That sets it all up.

Just to add to the post above, I wanted to write something about my post impact feelings. My sensation is that I am now predominantly ‘on top of the shaft’ post impact to p4 and that I am keeping pressure on the shaft by driving my left shoulder down and away from the target. It feels like I preserve a lot of wristcock and that the shaft becomes pressurised by the left sided ‘lurch’, almost like I use my whole body weight to press down on the shaft …and I don’t so much strike the ball as I compress it with a pressurized shaft, and rather than one moment being the only possible moment of impact, it feels like I could move the ball about in my stance and pressurize it in an arc of about a foot.

The text in bold, combined with the ‘slamming the pie’ principle really pushed my Module 3 drilling to a higher level.

Here Grady is showing (swing 1) his new found ability to find the slot. Textbook stuff really…

These were taken from (swing 2) a different swing that still showed good slotting.

This shows the difference between the tightness of connection through impact. The one more slotted is not as tight because of the greater force the deep slotting motion puts on the body. This is why one needs to be trained properly to handle these forces and pressures.

So we will look forward to seeing Grady work the best of both worlds… then we will turn the camera to a caddy view and discuss the evidence from that angle.

I like to hit drivers off the deck with a very, very heavy driver Mike made for me to check my mod work. This is a mod 1,2,3 and 4 drill. I failed with 4, but nailed the rest.

Update from Module #7 Student

I can almost say that 18 mos. into the ABS my swing and game have made a complete paradigm shift. Before ABS I would hit the ball and hope for a good shot. Now when I hit the ball I expect a good shot and am actually a little surprised when its not. For the first time I have no doubt that my initial goal of shooting par or better is right around the corner. Thanks again for your hard work and attention to detail with your students. It has made a difference.

All I try to do is have a short backswing ,plane it as shallow as I can and then rip the shit out of it with rotation…

Am chuffed today to have won the club competition set up by my Grandfather.

Last year I won the John Gascoigne Memorial Quaich (who was an Uncle) at another club I am member, so it’s pretty cool to hold both comps in my family name.

I know doubles scores don’t count for much, but I played great today, 5 birdies, 1 bogey, gross 67 off the whites.

John, Mod 3 is an eye opener for sure! Things would be so much easier if I would have learned and understood post impact acceleration a long time ago. I can see I have a ways to go developing the proper strength and awareness for this module but it is amazing and dramatic how different my ball flight and contact has changed with the right intention alone!
The ball is on a line, flat out compressed and any movement on it(draw or fade) is really late, it just hits its apex(much higher too)and then tumbles … Thanks again!

From new mod one student:

module one thought. When I retain wristcock, my thumbs point at where the ball would be and the hands feel quite low. With uncocked wrists, my thumbs point straight down at the ground nearer my feet and the hands feel higher. In both cases left wrist is flat and right wrist bent at impact.

The “thumbs pointing at the ball” move definitely feels more powerful, I can actually make the club make a whoosh through the air doing the drill. It feels like the tip of the shaft, or the heel of the club face, not the club face itself, is loaded with energy – this is the scary bit. I just want to be sure this is the right direction with this sensation
