I wasn’t sure exactly where to put this but, I think it fits. My first mentor as a PGA apprentice was a huge Hogan disciple and also regretted to Jim Barnes in a similar way. He was the winner of 9 major championship in the golden age and is said to have been the first to hit it over 309 yards. It will be tough to find some footage but, I’d love to hear some feedback especially from John Thanks everyone!!!
Wow. Never seen his swing before.
Thanks for those photos! Such a great hickory era player.
Love how open he has the face at P3. Wonderful. Deep on the 4:30 line and all green lights to hit hard into impact. Not much difference between late hickory clubs and the steel shafted that came later. I did the comps on the trackman… essentially zero difference.
I thought you’d like it! He may be more toe up or toe over a P4. And there might be a bit of film of him somewhere. The Metopolitan Golf Associaition NY did a short video bio of him I think.
Oh yeah! Lead arm across the shoulders cupped lead wrist ready to drop down to the hip pocket and rip into the ball. My former head pro referred to Barnes in the same vein as Hogan but used to simply say hogan did it better.
