Hogan's Greatest Golf Lesson Explained by Master Jazz Drummer Freddie Gruber

This is essentially what Hogan was doing. Both golfers and drummers are manipulating a stick in their hands wrists and fingers.

This is absolutely brilliant stuff, and examines how to get out of the way of both a drumstick and a golf club.

Hogan’s transition used this method, as did Buddy Rich on his drum kit. Like Buddy Rich, Hogan applied the opposing release, a hitters release to take back control of the golf club, just as Rich is doing with a drumstick.

Speaking of drummers, here’s a video of Buddy Rich doing a solo at 65. And then here’s another video of Hogan at the same age, both still had speed!

Love the old Hogan video… Haven’t watched that one in years.
