Hogan Legend steel shaft

I have some 1970’s irons( Apex with glossy finish, great shape) with Hogan “Legend” 4 steel shafts. The shaft label is black. I used to know the difference but forgot. I cannot find any information on the “Legend” shaft, how it was different from the Apex shaft. Does anyone remember? Thanks.

Found this on the web.
They were made in the late 70’s. Hogans first try at making a lighter metal shaft. To keep the strength the made the butt end larger so they had to invent grips with a larger core size. I know that 4 on hogans means stiff. That’s what I have on my Apex red lines…

Flop

Thanks Flop. I suspected they were “light” shafts. I wonder if that makes them less desirable since “heavy” seems better.

I guess I ought to get some scales and see how much difference there is in overall weight form a standard club.

This is where I found the info. hirekogolf.com/hireko/webpag … apter1.pdf

Pretty detailed - might help. As a rule older Regular shafts are more like new Stiffs, just like a now wedge is a then nine.

Thanks. That answers my question and is a good reference.
