Yeah I’m pretty sure that’s Sanborn on alto, kind of a cornball. That Jaco record has a different group on every song, bunch of different styles, check it out for real if you haven’t had the chance.
That Chili’s album was the beginning of the end, wasn’t it? That was junior high for me, jeez…
Sounds right up my alley. I’m out here in rural France right now on some ghetto ass wifi so I can’t watch the vid but I will as soon as I get a chance. Thanks.
I think I was in the tenth grade when that came out, they were never the same after Hillel Slovak died but who could be? Sanborn I like when he doesn’t try to get serious, ‘Bang Bang’ is one of the great white guy party anthems, that almost approaches Hot Hot Hot status. Speaking of, if you happen to like David Johannsen he played a phenomenal deadbeat in Let it Ride from the same time period. One of my favorite B- movies, what a cast: Dreyfuss before he went cool guy, Buster Poindexter, Jennifer Tilly, Teri Garr, Robbie Coltraine as the sensai ticket writer and more. Not that this has anything to do with anything but it is very good.
I’m feeling your pain out in the French countryside, nothing to comfort except the best food and wine in the world. Hehe, I’ll be envying you when I’m eating airplane food tonite on my way to Virginia. If and when you get back to the states bring a picture of a real train with you, I don’t think Americans have ever seen one or know of their existence.
I’ve attempted to learn how to play the guitar as of a few months ago… and people think the golf swing is difficult to learn!!!
Anyway - here’s a cover of a classic Beatles tune. I’ve always it was one of their best and in this version it’s simply 2 acoustic guitars, a bass, and a phenomenal voice. There seems to be just the right balance each.
One of Jimi Hendrix’s roots. You can really hear the influence. When I first took up guitar it was all blues and Mississippi John Hurt was one of the first guitarist I tried to copy.
…trying hard to present a glimpse of a culture rooted deep in the rocky outcrops
As it has done for hundreds of years inspiring painters, poets, writers, lovers and dreamers, late summer sunlight glints in and out at a 4:30 angle over your right shoulder as you make your way down cobblestone streets.
You pay it no mind, not taking the moment and missing your shot at connecting down through the ages…

Years ago, was working in Paris for two weeks and my host/contact was playing this album constantly. I fell in love with her (she was stunning!) and this album the whole time I was there. Everytime I play this collection of songs from TEB, I’m transported back.
For fans of odd meters and polyrhythms. This is a really well crafted tune, challenging, distinctive, and funky as hell.
Drum solo starts at 11:00, madness. Gene Lake is a bad dude.
