Dbain-ABS Student Progress

Shot my best round in awhile today. Been working on ABS for 2.5 years and it seems to be finally paying off. My gear is ABS specd irons and Hogan persimmon driver and 4 wood. Least not forget the chip roller.

Congrats!
Those sub 80 rounds will quickly drop that 11 hdcp…

Good stuff!
The Module work always pays off when you stay consistent and focused, which I know you have been doing!

Congrats!

I really struggled finding the backswing that worked for me. I tried taking it back inside, normal and outside. Each one i spent months on drilling and taking it to the course to put pressure on it. I finally have found that the outside route works for me. It really forces the club to onto the 430 line. From there with all my weight on my right foot I can rip through with a mod 3 move and hear the woosh of the club out in front of me.

The outside takeaway makes sense for sure. It’s a natural looping path back to the 4:30 line that can feel very fluid and natural.

Reached another personal best round score 75. I have to give Michael Cunningham with ABS some huge credit here. Have been texting him back and forth for a few weeks about the right wrist condition through the swing. Through these conversations we discovered that we both new of Joe Dante book the four magic moves. Michael even trained underneath joe dante years ago. With that we spoke of the early backward wrist break that joe dante taught. I had employed this method fifteen years ago before finding ABS but I didn’t know what I was doing with it. So I probably hit 50 balls employing this move and then shot the best round of my life. While the ball striking didn’t get me more GIR it got me in better places to chip from. The early backward wrist break created the most penetrative straight ball flight I have ever experienced and it’s not hard to do. Maybe Michael can chime in with the technical side of what it is really doing in the swing.

I’m so happy you were able to break another barrier. I love the early wrist break/set for multiple reasons especially how it creates lag pressure in the first 12-24 inches of the backswing. I teach the early wrist break to all my students in my golf academy as standard procedure. Also The early trail wrist break works exceptionally well with Advanced Ball Striking (ABS) protocols because it establishes the correct lever system and geometry needed for a powerful, compressed strike.

By setting the trail wrist early, the golfer locks in the essential lag angle and shaft alignment that ABS emphasizes through drills like the 4:30 line and PV5 positions. This early wrist set also helps eliminate unwanted hand manipulation later in the downswing, allowing the pivot and body rotation to drive the motion instead of timing-dependent hand release. As a result, it promotes a flat shaft plane, deeper delivery path, and consistent compression — all core elements of the ABS system’s advanced mechanics.
