I have a buddy that has made a living going to estate sales and buying then reselling items. He picked these up for me 1-PW. They are more heel strike friendly than toe strike like modern clubs are today . I put these at ABS specs minus the 6 degree flat. I only went 3 degress flat with these to preserve the sole design and bounce that Don White worked so hard to create.
Heads Cobra Greg Norman 1-PW
Shafts Dynamic Gold X7s the most stout steel shaft on the planet.
Grips Golf Pride MCC Plus 4s
8 iron 465 grams ie 16.42 ounces and every club is strategically stepped from the 8 iron. Swing weight D7- D7.5 three -PW.
I’m waiting on the X7s to arrive for the 1 & 2 iron to finish build. I’m a huge fan of Swingweight and Deadweight because I feel they work together. I tell clients to think about it like this.
An old school antenna rabbit ears with a clicker dial in the middle. Dead-Weight is the rabbit ears and Swingweight is the dial. Dead-Weight gets the channel but the clicker dial brings everything into focus. When I explain it to clients like this they really gain a deeper understanding of how both Dead-Weight & Swingweight play an important role in dialing in your clubs.
I have named these sticks Battle Axes because everyone that has tried to swing them has commented how stout they are. The feel is second to none pure butter on pure strikes and friendly on shots slightly missing the sweet spot as long as it towards the heel. If your miss is towards the toe these clubs will brutalize your ego.
I was able to play them in a few weather conditions super dry A+ and also right after a severe thunderstorm B-.
Overall these are keepers for sure and I was pleased with the build.
I sat up the 8 iron first 16.42 ounces at D7 three degrees flat and practiced with it a few times. Once I was happy with everything I built the rest of the set and it fell right in line with ABS desired weights and loft and lentgh.
The Dynamic Gold X7s are the glue that keeps it all together in my humble opinion but as I have said before they are not for the weak of heart. The X7s will make you rethink a few things in your swing mechanics.
Cheers
