Client session Birds Eye View + 4:30 to PV5 Focus

Client contacted me said he was striking the ball well but was losing way too many strokes from 130 yards into the green manly with wedges. After having a discussion I found out client was swinging his wedges at 100% full swings creating way too much era and mishits.

The first 20 minutes we worked on a release drill adding some Ulnar Deviation into the strike zone.
Next 25 minutes we worked on Low Punch Shots with a start gait aiming stake out in front.

Last 30 minutes I introduced Birds Eye View and just spoke to client about the 4:30 line and the importance and benefits of getting to PV5 with clear intentions.

Client said after the session he has never hit so many shots so well and booked for 3 more sessions. I explained to him that we broke the flaw into small increments and addressed them with a very specific drill. Then we reinforced the work hitting the shot that had been giving him trouble which in coaching we call " belief conversion "

First drill focused on wrist and forearm movement patterns.
Second drill focused on improving compression and getting the hands in front of the ball at impact while adding a great shot for tucked pin locations and breezy days.

Third awareness was birds eye view just getting the client to see the action from a different perspective which removed the ball bound mentality that I see ruin so many rounds. I also introduced post impact momentum into the conversation to wet the appetite.

I’m looking forward to the next three sessions and I can tell the client is also.
Cheers

Now these are the kind of posts that can help the ones still playing golf to improve. Thanks Michael for taking your time to share this with us.

Thank you David for the kind words I truly appreciate it. :in_hole::in_hole::in_hole:

Used to know a guy who could find a very erratic 150 with a wedge in hand but really couldn’t answer my question to him why he would ever want to. That part of the game was something foreign to him.

Looks like you have a motivated student on your hands. :man_golfing:

Thank you he is a professional bowler that uses golf to relax. I see amateur golfers all the time trying to hit wedges like a stock 7 iron and when I introduce a shaft vertical stopping point light bulbs go off. I personally use the L1-L3 system so I’m never taking a full out swing with a wedge. The biggest obstacle is to ingrain with clients distance control over distance.
