Hey I’m new around here and ordered a 13 wood Bert Dargie after loving my 2.5 wood of his and there was some chipping near the sole plate when I received it. Didn’t think nothing of it and after some balls at the range and taking it on the course for the first time more chipped off. What can be done to prevent any further damage to the club so I can keep on playing it? Thanks.
Also if anyone has any more information about Dargie clubs I would love to hear it. Most I could find was in reference to Trevino taking his clubs to him and supposedly Palmer as well.
Im not sure there would be a particular thread that would deal with that repair. The sole plate screws would need to be heated and removed to get the sole plate off. You could then use a product like GitRot which is kind of a liquid epoxy that penetrates the wood fibers. That would hopefully stabilizes the remaining wood of the head. Could replace sole plate with some epoxy and new screws and then mix some epoxy either sawdust to fill in the missing part sand and could be good to go. Good luck.
That is a great suggestion. Once carefully doing what you suggest it would good to go. Modern epoxy choices are amazing for helping us keep the “old” new tech going. Thank you.

Thanks this is daunting for me as I’ve only seriously been playing for 6 months and started using Persimmon 2 months ago. I’ll get to it but not in a rush as I take in information.
