Very cool! Thanks for sharing this. It is great to hear him talk about the framing, strategy, need for control, risk versus potential reward. So many things not really thought of with the high MOI wedges out of cabbage rough. I watch a British guy Warren Bennet and he does an “Academy versus..” series. He played the European tour years back and he visits a bunch of these type of quirky out of the way courses in Great Britain. He will start out some number of holes down versus par, walks the course with his dog. It’s just exactly what golf really was meant to be. Just a totally enjoyable watch for a closet architecture nerd like me too!
Don’t normally watch his channel, but that was an enjoyable video. I’d love to play out there someday.
Makes 2 of us! Very spiritual it seems.
Check out Warren Bennett’s channel. I think you’d enjoy. I find him to be humble and it’s nice to watch him play. He mixes in some of what he thinks about on each shot and so on. In some ways it seems like you’re listening to the voice in his head.
Bryson at my home course!! Wild…
Maybe some questionable strategy on some of those holes but he’s got the game to pull it off. He definitely hits some spectacular shots here. Hitting it greenside on #4 is insane. Same with threading the needle and going straight at the green on #6. I would never hahaha. I’m sure next time around he won’t mess with the right side on #7!
Very cool video, and I like how he seemed truly in awe of the massive redwoods and the course design in general. Good stuff.
It would be more interesting to see him go out there with persimmon and blades and a ball that spins properly… which would showcase where the ball really should be going. He could work the ball better with a proper golf ball.. and likewise be punished much more severely on mishits.
Oh yeah. It was fun to see on a couple of occasions where he didn’t seem like he really “got it” when choosing his shot. I think it was the first par 3 that the yardage made him want to hit wedge or something but the trees defended that shot. I worked a little 9 hole pitch and putt years agothat had a similar hole.
That third hole is sneaky.
I’m a low ball hitter so I never really have to think about the overhanging limbs at all. I normally hit a punchy mid/short iron into that. It looks like a cakewalk but don’t make many birdies there even when you hit the green.
