Augusta bends a knee to the modern player regardless of the set up

I think Rory McIlroy might have just had the best round of golf at Augusta while not hitting many fairways since Tiger Woods. Data has shown that unobstructed shots into the green are more important than FIR. Jack said it best over a decade ago and brought it back up again today. Jack said today’s players are playing a game he is not familiar with and he didn’t say it with disdain. He said it with 100% respect for today’s professional player.

No reason to not respect them. They’re amazingly talented and hard working. I don’t care for the modern equipment and style of play; a lot has been lost. I watch very little golf anymore, but there’s no reason to hate on the modern players.

Same here, my viewing over the past decade or so has dropped faster than Artemis II’s re-entry.
There are just not enough dandelions, bare spots, and brown grass to hold what little attention span I have left.

Too many tuxedos, and not enough jeans and wife beater tee shirts.

:joy: yep we lose attention as we age for sure but I do enjoy watching Rory because his iron play is just out of this world and it’s good to see players ability to score when the driver is off.

I enjoying watching the skill set of the modern player because greens are rolling 14-15 on the stimp and these players still create shots that hold the green. Trevino and Player and Jack said it best these players today are pure athletes and when you have the likes of those 3 players heaping on the praise that means so much because they are some of the last players to see Nelson, Hogan and Snead and everything in between so their words are monumental when it comes to judging skill and ability.
