Prot,
I really understand now how Lag’s hitting protocol is much more easily manageable on a daily basis. He and I have spoken and he thinks it terrific that I played to a high level with a swingers protocol as that will only stand me in good stead down the road because I CAN actually do it that way with success. BUT, I am really working on the module 3 now so hitting becomes more ingrained and I get even MORE control with the long clubs. In 1998 I won the Total driving on the USPGA Tour (accuracy and distance combined)…and driving has always been my strong suit - so I can only imagine just how much better I can and will drive the ball by trying to work the modules into that department. It is really exciting to play golf again with an understanding of it all. And if it doesn’t become a 100% hitters protocol- at least my intentions are there and I will be all the more better for it.
Flop,
I certainly look better with the trophy than he does !! And look I can lift it up higher !!! No sponsors hat also !!!

Look better and have more hair - no hat needed to hide the recede. Plus, your smart enough to use the trophy to show where the tournament actually gets played. Maybe Tiger needs a little Where’s Waldo range work.

I remember that shirt you were wearing like it was yesterday Two!

Just wanted to get your take on this. Playing here in Tennessee the burmuda is about to croak. and the hard old red clay will be showing its teeth. The old Flop would have seen this as bad news, but the new Lag influenced one sees it as just another of those great golf challenges. I know that the flattrning of my swing and clubs - the pork chop to bacon strip effect - will be of great benefit, but was wondering about bounce et al. My dad and grandad were both tool and die makers, so the pull to club tinker is quite strong. That and the fact I just got a set of stiff 64 Dynas for ten bucks does sweeten the pot. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn’t worry about bounce except with the short greenside shots… hard or soft ground comes into play more with those touchy shots as the club is moving slower and the ground gets to feel the head for longer and can cause some digging or bouncing depending on the strike
I think a LW with around 8 degree bounce is ideal for both conditions-- square the face for hard ground and open it up for softer ground and you have the best of both worlds for most conditions and courses
As for full shots- keep the body speed aggressive post impact and let each shot be ball first- divot second and then bounce won’t really matter or get to come into play at all

Thanks for the info. Will follow it to the letter. Just got and hit some Mac 67 Tourney DX’s (one of Lag’s favorites I do believe) yesterday, and I think I have found my winter sticks. The feel is so nice and solid. Can’t wait to bend em grip em and bag em. One more question. When hitting off the hard pan, aka soon to be fairways here, is the ball position the same, or moving it back a tiny bit to pick it better an option. Being an experimenter addict, think I’m still going to grind one of my dynas so I can shave with it - just to see what happens. Again, thanks for taking the time.

Daaaah! Mulligan time. Used the better half’s computer, and also her moniker by mistake.
Flop
On severe hardpan it may help to move ball position back slightly to promote ball first
Doing this however may alter the balls flight path- normally into a slight push possible cut…because… the ball is now back of our normal low point -so the face would be slightly open
To adjust for that you can close the face slightly at address!!! That all sounds a bit hard and is it worth worrying about?
NO–that’s just making something easy into a battle—SO—
I would just not worry about the hardpan for normal shots–same ‘flop swing’ with 4.30 line and acceleration through and past impact—this will stop the club from getting steep and plowing into the hardpan
Think bacon strip divots and not pork chops - (if I can use Moe and Lag to quote) – and hardpan won’t be an issue
Thanks Two
Sounds like the 4:30 will be an even better tool in the winter. Can already hear the bacon frying.

Is this your distance Bradley? Can you give your distances with older blades and persimmons?
Same yardages as above… no different if it’s a T-Rex titanium or a pea in pod size head- blade or cavity… just drop about 25 yards from 300 driver mark and about 15 yards from 3 wood for persimmon usage. Irons are the same
I have not gained a yard in any area from the time I was 17 years old til now- cast or forged…metal or persimmon
I can’t hit the persimmons as far now as I used to:
because
- the ball of today is hard and doesn’t compress as well
and - my old swing was more technically dynamic and loaded and body active
I also still have some old tuition junk from the years of age 25 to the age of 40 that need to be still ironed out - but the modules are pointing me in that direction
for eg: with persimmon in the 80’s I won a bunch of long drive competitions during events with drives of over 310 metres (340 yards)… I can’t sniff that distance now even with a ‘technology special’ driver
and
In 1998 I was top 3 in total driving on PGA Tour…approx 15th in accuracy and 22nd in distance------ one year later when the huge monsters started being played on tour I was around 30th in total driving- still approx 15th in accuracy yet I had dropped to 111th in distance!!! even though my yardage had actually increased almost 1 yard in that year
technology worked for many- yet it did absolutely nothing for me…we can talk about the reasons forever and a day-- lighter clubs made me swing slower as I couldn’t feel the head…more upright lie drivers that were produced again made my body motion softer for fear of hitting the ball sideways…plus tuition and swing positions took the dynamic components away also.
Would love a time machine to rip back to about 1993 and start playing again and know what I know now ![]()
Tiger followed in my footsteps for the world crystal globe… I hope I don’t follow in his footsteps and collect ‘Big Red’

I don’t think Tiger got anywhere near your tournament record though…!
Plus you have two of them!
I have a feeling he might not be going down under again for a while…
Or even just going down…
Hey Bradley,
It seems Mike Clayton has been secretly hanging out at ISG and just revealed his identity. I don’t know if you know him well (and like him I guess), but I’d imagine he’d make a good fit on ABS from what I remember about him. Also be good to have a course designer around. Any chance you can bring him over here?
I shall see what I can do…I know Clayts well…have known him for about 28 years…YIKES!!!
I haven’t been to iseek at all for a long time…I’ll catch up on what he has to say there and get hold of him and see if he wants to venture to this part of the world
