These '62 Power Thrusts just came in (you may recognize them from M4, for those who’ve seen it). Beautiful sticks, although they need a little oxidation clean up (any suggestions are welcome). Bought them around the same time as the Percussions.
I put the Power Thrust (on left) and Percussion 6 irons side by side for comparison:
Good for you freddiec!! They look pretty clean… do they have that softer leading edge you were talking about? My guess based purely on what I can see of the 5-iron in the pic is “no”.
Robbo,
You have a good eye. I knew these would have a fairly sharp leading edge, unlike what I remember having in 1987, but I knew thats what these were going to be. These also have little to no bounce from what I can see, but my eyes may not be that accurate. They set up nice and probably a degree flatter than my Miz MP60s, which could be a good thing. D2 SW compared to D4 on my Miz MP60s. Should be fun!
Now I’ll have to take them to the range and have a hit and see what to put in the bag. I like the idea of using the Hogans because there’s a driver and 3 wood but they are laminated, whereas all other drivers are solid persimmon. I might end up selling the Hogans and the Cobra and keeping the Penna and Wilson. Don’t know yet.
Pippolo,
Those are some great looking woods you picked up. I saw that Penna and was thinking about it… Its stunning. I also like that Cobra, the grain is superb!
yes pippolo…I would think twice about ditching the Cobra. I had one of those years ago when they first surfaced and loved it death. Mine was a 2 wood!! hence i ended up offloading it for a wood with a No.1 on it
Thanks for the tip Twomasters, I’ll go to the range this afternoon and give them all a go and see what happens. Do you still remember what you liked about the Cobra?
If I sell the Hogans I’ll need to look for a persimmon 3-wood…what a sacrifice looking for more clubs to buy.
