One of the things I get asked is how I keep stats, using AimPoint Golf’s ‘Aim Charts’ and do things like the ‘Rule of 12’ for chipping and do it on casual rounds and not slow up play.

It helps that I have a pretty good memory for the stats. If I have a 30 foot putt and then leave myself with a 6-footer and make the 6-footer, I can remember that data pretty quickly, then write it down on a small pad when I’m finished with the hole. I’ve got a pretty basic ‘code’ to tell me what happened. As far as GIR’s, fairways, etc. I can easily remember shots from the round when I get home and put the stats into my stat keeping MS Excel spreadsheet. I used to have phenomenal memory and remember specific shots from rounds years ago. My memory isn’t that good anymore, hopefully with the memory training skills that Whole Brain Planet has, I’ll improve my memory again.

But as far as keeping the pace of play up, it’s really just a question of practicing it and then trying to figure out what slows you up and how to counter it. One thing I do is I’m usualy the first guy on the green in the group as we approach the green. That way if I need to pace off a putt or a chip and then figure out things like where the fall line is or do the math for the ‘Rule of 12’ I can do it while the rest of the playing partners are hitting their shots and be ready to go when it’s my turn.

I was at the range today with the blades (long irons) and I came away with a pretty sore back. I’ve only just realised that my last few outings with blades have left me with a sore back. I guess that’s what happens when the body needs to “work” to get the ball in the air with a muscle as opposed to cavity backs where the club does all the work for you thus making you lazy. I’ll keep monitoring it though because the soreness could be from something else. I flushed one 3 iron 160m carry with some crappy range balls so I was happy

Don’t hit crappy range balls…

You’d be better just taking divots and looking at that vapor trail of soil removal.

If you can’t hit balls that somewhat represent what you play on the golf course, you are pedaling backwards.

Been quiet with progress recently. I have gotten back into chippin practice, but rather than the little fidgety things I was trying before, I’m now doing far more full backyard chips, which might be a 20m carry into a small landing area. Overall, I’m very happy with that, but of course the perfectionist in me wants better. Module 3 is lighting fires in my brain, and it’s seeping into all my golf thoughts, and even some non golf ones. I love the feeling of a body driven chip even now, even though that may not be the ideal solution.

Since my previous 18, which was after 1 day of module 3, I’ve not seen any course time so I was itching to get out there. Also got some basically unhit Macgregor DX 1966 irons, Cleveland woods and bullet putters in the mail so was going out despite crappy looking weather. Had a quick 6 holes before work today, 17, 18, 17, 16, 17, 18, 3 fairly long tight par 4’s. Could have gone 2-3 more, but rain poured down after the final hole which happened to be the 18th, so I hit the showers. I’ve been loving module 3, so it was great to get a chance to try it out on the course. First three holes, nothing was really clicking, sort of wondering what’s going on. Hit drives on the 16th, and was lucky to be on the fairway with mishits. As I’m walking to the ball, I realise my shots have been much like the ones prior to M3, then it clicks. I’m still hitting with my arms right? I take a few practice swings trying to initiate some M3 feelings, and eventually find it by slowing down the downswing, then crunching through impact with my stomach. Suddenly I feel it there in the practice swings, lag!!! Next shot, 2 iron from 190m, solid contact, 12 feet from hole… OK, easy game. Nailed a 9 iron even cleaner, but misread it and flew the green. 17th, two dead straight drives, decent contact with the Cleveland driver. Absolutely nailed a 5 iron from 150m, but caught the wind and fell into the bunker going right at the pin. Tried a 5 iron again from just less than 150m, slight pull this time, same bunker, two solid bunker shots. Final hole, nailed a drive down the middle, other one pulled it off the fairway, could have tried a miracle shot, but chipped out instead. My first shot was still 155m out, and I nailed a 5 iron to the middle of the green, about 20ft from the hole. Super happy with everything about that shot, as it was almost exactly as I designed it. 8 iron after chip out from about 125m. Absolute pin seeker, flush as flush can be, landed 6 feet from the hole and spun back to 8 feet.

I couldn’t possibly be happier with this ending to the day, and I’m looking forward to doing M3 properly sometime in the future. I’m also very happy with my Macgregor DX’s, and finally have enough irons, woods and putters to have nothing from the previous 2 decades of golf club butchery. Ebay will be their new friend. The Pro V1’s are about to be replaced by Srixon Soft Feels too, so I’m going to be far from what your current low handicap thinks about golf equipment, but hopefully not far from what scores they hit. Oh, and I think some Hogan Apex II’s have arrived for me, so I’m more than happy with all the clubs I have, and hope to take these out on the weekend. Not sure when I’ll play the last round to get my handicap just yet.

sb944 - I don’t think the rules of golf allow tying a club to your torso and running at the ball…though I could be wrong.

Captain Chaos

Duly noted.

A hackers first attempt @ module 2

There’s an individual I want next to me in a foxhole, wow are you strong. Nice hand action, it’s vastly improved over the last vid I saw.

Thanks lecoeurdevie, I’m curious to hear what Lag has to say…I’ve emailed him a couple of time but haven’t had any feedback yet. I guess he’s been busy.

Just my two cents but I’d try for more “much more” knee bend at P3.

Hey Ant’, Pipp’

I “friended” you guys on youtube… I like to see how others perform the modules as it’s a good way for me to stay focused and learn.

BTW: I’m not gonna get ahead of myself (still on mod 1), but Module 2 was not what I’d expected… lol!

I do a lot of customizing the module work to fit the player, with what they have, and how we are going to apply some of the finer points. The main thing is we have to strike a balance between pre and post impact opposing forces, and everyone is slightly different. Lie angles, flexibility, and strength are all significant factors, particularly how we will be addressing the function of the left knee. There are several viable options.

I thought it was you Pinzer, no probs whatsoever :sunglasses: . I accepted and subscribed to your channel too. I’m curious to see how you improve in the next weeks as well. If I was you though I wouldn’t look at the modules ahead of you. You might just get confused and ruin what you’re working on.

I agree Pipp’… one mod at a time.

Sorry if you thought you had a stalker… I forgot that my username is different here

I’ve been really doing a lot of module 3, and even a bit of module 1 this week. Also got 75 good condition 2nd hand Srixon Soft Feels after ordering 60, so I put 20 or so into my practice bag, some into my bag for the course. Did a few chips in my back yard, felt nice and soft, as expected.

Hit the local before work again this morning. Was EARLY, sun was barely up, and I was stiff as a board after a couple of weeks of pumping out a lot of module 3’s, so I decided to hit the range. Also had my Hogan Apex II’s out for the first time. Pitched my first 25, pretty accurate. Put a flag about 100m, hit full 9 irons on the 2nd batch to the flag, and had a nice patch which would be very puttable, plus a few wayward shots. Final batch had a flag at 145m, hit 6 irons to that. Much, much worse. A lot of decent contacts, but the ball was slicing off mostly, might have only hit the green 5 or 6 times.

I wanted to get out on the course and not focus too much on the fact I wasn’t hitting it well, just enjoy the walk. Planned same 6 as last time, 3 long par 4’s repeated, this time right off the back tees too, so 370m, 355m, 375m. Sure enough, everything started clicking when I hit the course. I have no explaination for this, but it’s like a switch got turned on when I hit the course. It could just be luck, but I was hitting fairways with my Macgregor persimmon, 200-230m down the middle, though only flushed a couple of them. Flushed some Hogan irons to greens. Obviously not every shot, but enough to keep a smile on my face walking around. Highlights, 6 solid drives in a row, and really only a couple of small misses with the driver in general, loving that. 3 iron from 175m straight at the flag, 4 iron 160m to 12-15 feet (2 GIR’s on that 370m hole), birdie putt lipped out. Nice chipping again, no mis hits. Putting… need to work on this at some stage, perhaps on Saturday I can start working on Al’s tips. The Soft Feels and Hogans/Persimmon seemed to be a quality match up, some really nice feel that the brain is still processing. Also the Soft Feels do tend to go a little straighter than the Pro V1’s, which obviously isn’t hurting me at the moment.

Good fun session again.

Well, carded my final round pre handicap. It was a 95, so many non ball striking related issues I have now, but that is purely because of a massive lack of practice in those areas. It did rain a fair bit today, but I don’t think it affected my score much.

It was funny, because I went down to practice, and straight away hit the range. I was intrigued by augille’s thoughts of “using the bounce”, and to see if I could implement it. I could really feel what he meant, and I also feel what he meant by this changing his module 1 work, there is a slightly different intention of module 1 if you having this bounce thought in mind. Anyway, I saw about 3 groups walking down the fairway with a missing player, due to poor weather, and went to the pro shop to ask if any further spots were going, sure enough the group half way through teeing up needed one more, so I was in. Feeling a little rushed I topped the crap out of my drive and just made it past the ladies tee with about 20 people watching, nice. I then nailed a 2 iron and was on my way.

I’ll get the really bad stuff out of the way. Putting, yep whatever, 3 putt a tonne, 2 putt most decent up and down chances. Sand… I hate sand. I found every bunker today, and the sand changed hole to hole. I had soft, hard, wet, soaked and even a big puddle!!! OK, if I want 5+ shots off whatever handicap I get given, 1-2 months of sand shots and putting will easily do the trick. I also botched my approaches today. I don’t know yet whether it was a mind thing (didn’t feel like it) or just luck, but I just couldn’t finish off on some big drives. And when I flushed the crap out of my irons, 10-15m too long. I even OB’d a flushed, straight 8 iron, that went 15m further than I thought it would, hit a path… I don’t know if it’s module 3 or the Soft Feel balls, but I’ve definitely added 10m to my shots, and it took some adjusting, even by 18. Think I have a fear of being short now or something, probably due to blade mis hits going so much shorter.

OK, who could care less, onto the good stuff. Firstly, drives. Macgregor Tourney 1 wood was in play, and I got a few right out of the screws!!! 230m straight and sweet. I was feeling more body hitting today rather than army handy stuff, and the driver showed this more than anything. In fact when I hit my 2 iron off the tee, I had some big straight shots, even out driving a younger strong players titanium driver a couple of times. I think why this didn’t happen with some of my wayward approach shots is I didn’t fully trust myself to just go at the ball 100%, but time will tell. When I hit my irons sweet, people knew it. The friendly younger guy took great interest in me, and wondered how I could be hitting the ball this well hitting clubs with such tiny heads, saying he thinks I’ll be a low handicap player very shortly. He even brought up the word “lag” and I got excited, but he of course had no idea how to produce lag, and never displayed any. It was nice to be recognised though. Chipping was very solid again, only a little tweaking needed to get lengths right. It seems every chip is over a bunker or the pin is 10 feet from the rough I have to hit over, but I’m getting it as close as I could without some elaborate flop shot a lot.

Was a frustrating day, but a fun one none the less. I’ll have a handicap after this, not that I could care less at this point. I don’t want to worry about handicaps as such until I have a few more modules behind me and have some putting and sand practice under my belt.

SB944, Great to read about anther good round well below 100!

I’d say that the difference in distances and feel when chipping and putting is definitely due to you using a different ball.

sb944,

You won’t realise what kind of fast track runway you are on if you embrace this concept…grasp it mentally and physically. The ABS modules are, I think, an integral part of understanding and mastering this protocol. As you saw, Twomasters said he played with this concept when he was playing at his best…

You can’t feel the bounce unless you let the club gravity drop a little at p3…hope this makes some sense and is helpful.

When you get it, don’t forget to say thank you to Lag and Twomasters!

sounds like we have a winner!!

The handicapper has set me to 19, overall a fair assessment I think. It’s not really relevant to my goals here, but I am going to be working on all parts of my game for the rest of the year, so I can’t imagine that won’t be more than a few shots lower if I put the work in.

I’m putting in a tonne of module 1 as well as module 3. Module 3 is just too hard to do in bulk, so I’m filling in by reworking module 1. I had the light bulb from Lag’s latest feedback about keeping the wrist more cocked, and looking at his full swing vid’s, and a few other players, I see it there. I feel like the cocked wrist is really going to unleash ABS for me, as the rest has been coming along, but that cocked wrist just adds a tonne of feel. It goes hand in hand with what Two and Augille are talking about too.
