Been using my chip roller for about year now and a huge break through recently. I started hitting down on the ball and to my surprise the ball tracked dead straight to my target. I would think it would jump off the face and be hard to control but it was exact opposite. Not sure the science behind this but it works…Had 28 putts on my last round. Lowest ever.
Nice putter. Reminds me of the wand alan doyle used to use so effectively.
Have you all ever weighted the heads? If I’m not mistaken these come out around 330 or less grams which is 10-20 grams above a pw without weight added.
One thing I like is adding weights in the shaft to increase heft more uniformly across the club.
Keep the knowledge flowing this is great topic.
Not sure about the grams but comes in at 18oz total weight. I actually hit down on the ball with it as well. Like Gary Player did.
Allen Doyle what a great player. Can’t believe played with him at Ponky in Boston. Thought his swing was crap
. Curious if i can use tgis putter as CR? Has some offset? I shouldn’t change as putted well in my first 18 hole round. 2 birds sadly only 6 GIRs. Some putts.
My current ping B60 is bent flat, same as my PW and 18 oz. 8 degree loft open and close the door. I did have one weird short miss but overall good putting with this. Want to get an old putter for the look though. I do like 8802s but have this in my garage. It will need a-lot
of lead as it is pretty light.
I like Allan Doyle’s swing. Very much a back ball position, 4:30 line, rotated plane, hit it out to the right guy.

Neil i Agree 100%. He was so good but it didnt look right to me like 40+ years ago. Short choppy but deadly accurate and what a short game. Not a traditional swing to see with your own eyes not knowing anything about golf other than what i dug out of thecdirt…I worshipped Freddy Couples who was a smooth swinger. I always thought then it was my tempo that held me back
. I did play better after watching him and Sam Randolph at Bank of Boston classic. Tempo can really help swingers.
I will never forget there was a chute on one of those holes at Pleasant Valley and i was down below as spectators couldn’t get to this elevated tee. Freddy must have pulled one bad and branches were cracking above my head. He couldn’t have been more than 100 yards off tee. Hit one out of rough to other rough about 150 from green then hit it on to 25 feet and my drained the putt for par
. Watching his swing now you can see he has a swingers flippy release and must have 1 in a million tempo and hand eye coordination.
Doyle though had so much ABS. I heard at his end he got worse in his chase for distance? Two US Senior opens and used to beat up on Tiger and Phil in high level amateur tournaments. True champion.
My first ABS swing was like Doyle. Very accurate with my irons, but the ball came in too low with draw and I struggled to stop it. Played that for a few years with some success before changing to a fade with more orbit pull up the 7:30.
Pretty impressive NRG. I am still struggling to curve the ball much. Do you open or close the face?
I love the New England/Baaawstiin Accent of AD. I played hockey against Norwich in college. Good hockey program and he would have been legit if he played there. He is a true champion like all in the city of Champions (NE/Boston)! Right William! I am here for a few weeks working and no golf for a while. I played really well on Monday. Hope springs eternal in the spring. Hopefully the drills will continue to seep slowly.
Thx for posting the video interviews of Allen Doyle, really good to hear him in person!
